ABOUT MANUEL SOLIS SALAZAR
and
DORA MAGDALENE SALAZAR
Magdalene and Manuel met and fell in
love while working together
at the Shamrock during the fifties.
They both had a heart attack
on the same day in August and were
taken in separate ambulances
to the emergency room of Memorial
Hospital. My most poignant
memory of them was when they reached
out to hold each other's
hand a moment before they rushed him
into efforts to save him
and bring him back. They both suffered
from congestive heart
failure. Manuel survived the crisis of
the moment and after ten
days he came home only to suffer a
second fatal heart attack two
days later. Magdalene is was still
clinging to life by a thread for the next two years
and we just lost her on October 30, 2002.
But each day we had her with
us was precious beyond words. And we
are thankful for each day.
Manuel was 88 and Mother left us
when she too was 88.
GRAND-DAUGHTER LINNIE
Manuel's greatest comfort during those
ten days while his life
hung in jeopardy was his beloved
grand-daughter, Linnie, who
never left his side day or night and
his daughter, Dereth who
also stayed with him. My sister was
home caring for our dear
fragile Mother who was on oxygen 24
hours a day.
Do not search for
us, we will find you.
Do not wait for us, we are here....all
ready.
Do not whisper your name, we know it
well.
We have loved you forever, time will
tell....
We are your Guardian Angels.
Oh, I believe there are angels among
us
Sent down to us from somewhere up
above
They come to you and me in our darkest
hours
To show us how to live
To teach us how to give
To guide us with the light of
love.
Where there is love
There's an angel nearby.

In Memory of Thee
Lost,
in the memory of Thee,
every place that I may go,
I see Thy face,
so calm,
so peaceful,
in Thy place;
though much too soon.
Even in my happy days,
are times that used to be,
I find myself,
lost,
in the Memory of Thee.
